Do not confuse emotional intensity with motivation

Do not confuse emotional intensity with motivation

As I keep saying in this series of articles, people automatically believe that they are already motivated if they have goals in life. If only things were that simple. Seriously. Let’s face it, the reason why most people struggle and is unable to reach peak levels of performance is because they just go through the motions.

Of course, if you were to tell them this, they probably would not react all that positively. Most people, after all, have an adverse reaction to wakeup calls or reality checks. One of the greatest sources of difficulties people have with those moments of clarity is their confusion of emotional intensity with motivation.

If you tell them, are you properly motivated so you can live up to your fullest potential? The answer, predictably, would be yes. But people are confused. After all, they are working towards a goal, right? This means that they are motivated. Not true.

Emotional intensity is not motivation. Even if you’re pumped up and you’re excited and you’re able to connect the dots and you can see how big of a deal this is, that’s not enough. You know how you can tell the difference? Motivation sticks with you regardless of how many people say no. that’s how it works.

You remain truly motivated regardless of how many people point at your face, laugh and call you crazy or stupid. That’s motivation. Motivation is not just emotional intensity because you can have that in any soccer game.

If you’ve ever been to a soccer game in Latin America, you see a huge sea of people all caught up in the moment. That’s emotional intensity, but that doesn’t really motivate you when you have significant obstacles standing in your way on your path to success.

It is too easy to think you are on a lonely path to success. It’s easy to think you are the only going through that process. We all have our own individual path. They are on separate tracks. We can’t compare. We can’t mix and match. This is what gives the whole process a lonely air to it. Still, this is a golden opportunity. You are left to focus on how you can motivate yourself. You are left alone with whatever motives you have for your journey. You are left with the hard question of asking yourself whether you want the prize hard enough to do whatever for however long it takes to achieve victory once and for all.

You’re going to have to find that inner drive and that inner purpose every single step of the way so you can unlock your state of flow. Once you get into that state of flow, you achieve a momentum that will enable you to do whatever it takes for however long it takes until you achieve success. That’s how you live up to your fullest life potential.

Unfortunately, the more you confuse emotional intensity with motivation, the farther off you would be to doing what you need to do to trigger real motivation. I’m talking about sustainable motivation here. I’m not talking about your emotional infatuations, temporary affections, short-lived passion. I’m not talking about any of that junk. I’m talking about real motivation.

Motivation is a mental muscle

Motivation is a mental muscle

What if I told you that getting motivated is not much different from going to the gym and hitting the weights? You may be thinking to yourself that there is a big difference between a weight rack and getting motivated. In fact, if you’re like most people, you probably assume that you already motivated enough.

I’m really not surprised if this is your mindset because this is the conventional wisdom. The understanding that most people have is that if you resolved to show up somewhere for eight hours in a day, maybe by punching a clock and putting in the time so you can get paid every two weeks, you are motivated enough.

Well, the problem is, that’s not motivation. That is obligation, not motivation. You just basically set up an appointment and you show up. Big deal. Where is the victory in that? Motivation is required for success because anything worthwhile in life is going to come with all sorts of challenges.

For the knight in shining armor to walk away with the princess and the chest full of gold, he has to slay the dragon first. The dragon surrounds the princess and the chest full of gold. That dragon is the challenge. Well, the same set-up applies to your life.

Whether you’re studying to become a medical doctor, a lawyer, or you’re trying to reach the top of the corporate ladder at your place of work, you are going to be confronted by dragons in many different forms. The question is, are you willing to do whatever it takes for however long it takes to slay that dragon?

This is a problem because most people do not want to be challenged. Most people are so afraid of coming up short that they don’t even try. I’m telling you, motivation is a mental muscle. You have to put yourself in a situation where you are forced to be motivated. You must use it. That’s how it gets stronger.

Now, at first you will probably fail. Welcome to the club. You think you were able to lift 300 lbs the first time you showed at the gym? Of course not. But the more you use your mental muscle, the stronger it gets. The more you challenge it, the more capable it becomes. The more you put stress on it, the more it grows.

Physical muscles get sore quick-especially if you have just put a tremendous amount of stress and pressure on them the first time. You simply are not used to it. Your muscles seem to be crying out for relief. It’s too tempting to give in and take the easy way out. This is the worst thing you can do. The best option is to just keep stressing your muscles out. Don’t underestimate your personal ability to physically adapt to whatever punishment you put yourself through. You can do it. In fact, most people hitting the weight rack the first time work through their sore muscles fairly quickly. The secret is not to give in and stop. Just keep going and keep at it.

If this is the truth with your physical muscles, this is also the truth with your mental muscles. To figure out how to do this the right way so you can achieve success on a systematic and methodical level, click here.

Don’t set yourself up for failure by forgetting how to get motivated

Don’t set yourself up for failure by forgetting how to get motivated

You are probably rolling your eyes at the title of this article. I really can’t say I blame you. I mean, come on. People forgetting how to get motivated? The absurdity of that statement really speaks to our assumptions. Most people who are trying to achieve anything with their lives automatically assume that since they are working towards a goal, that they are motivated.

Sure, at some level or other, this is absolutely correct, but the key question that is begging to be asked is, are you motivated enough? That is the kind of question that too many people simply do not want to wrap their minds around because they’re too busy focusing on the small stuff if they’re not outright evading it.

Make no mistake, you have to be motivated in the right way at the right levels of intensity, otherwise you’re just not going to make it. If you have a low level of motivation that enables you to at least show up to work day after day to do the bare minimum so you can avoid getting fired, you are technically speaking motivated.

But let me tell you, the last time I checked, that kind of motivation doesn’t exactly lead to the kind of stellar performance that gets rewarded. You’re just doing the bare minimum. You’re just going along to get along. In other words, you are an empty detail in whatever organization you are a part of.

You have to aim for a type of motivation that pushes you to operate at peak levels of performance-even if no one is looking. It’s as if you can’t help but be excellent. I know this sounds weird to you but if you let the whole concept of producing maximum value become your life’s main mantra then no amount of external discouragement or adverse conditions will trip you up on your journey to personal victory and success.

This is the reason why people who achieve habitual levels of success are able to do the right things at the right time with the right people to produce the right outcomes. They are able to do this day after day regardless of their feelings or how much opposition they face. Amazing? Not really.

You have to remember that in any type of human organization, 20% of the people there account for 80% of the results. Which group do you think you belong in? Here is a clue. It’s not the 20%. You’re in that 80% that produces 20% of the results. It is no surprise that you are struggling. It is not surprising that you are frustrated in areas of your life because you are not properly motivated enough. You have forgotten how to get truly motivated.

To get back on track so you can start living the kind of life you are born to live, click here. Make no mistake, if you are in any way, shape or form performing far below your potential, you can turn things around. It is never too late. Click here to figure out how.

Achieve more success by getting motivated on command

Achieve more success by getting motivated on command

Let’s get one thing clear. All of us have the capacity for greatness. Seriously. We all have it in us to do amazing things. In fact, you only need to look at past instances in your life where you were able to truly achieve. Everybody has it in them to do the right things at the right time with the right people to produce the right outcomes.

What separates truly successful people, and I’m talking about people who are habitually successful, from everybody else is that these individuals seem to be able to achieve success day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. In other words, they are habitual successes.

You have probably heard of the phrase, “Success is a habit.” This is absolutely spot on, but you have to remember that the people who are able to produce such results started out just like you. Their IQs are not any higher that yours. They are not in any way more emotionally in tune that you. They are just like you.

The big difference is that they are able to get motivated on command. Put more specifically, they are able to achieve a state of flow on command. This is a big competitive advantage because most of us have to be surrounded by the right people and we have to feel the right things for everything to fall into place.

Now, I wish I could tell you that that is very easy to do, but unfortunately it isn’t. In fact, if you think that for you to perform, you have to feel the right way and everything has to fall into place, then you’re probably going to be setting yourself up for a big disappointment. Seriously. You’re just probably going to be letting yourself down because those situations are few and far between.

Things just have to line up the right way for you to get triggered to perform. It doesn’t work that way. Life doesn’t work that way. Life is too chaotic. In fact, life is hard and unfair. So, how do you achieve continual success? Well, it all boils down to getting motivated on command. You must be able to figure out how to get motivated to achieve a state of flow regardless of how you feel.

Successful people are able to get into the zone on command. They will themselves to get the proper motivation they need to enter a state of flow. After they do this, things begin to become easy. They just know what to do at the right time with the right people to produce the right outcomes. This is why they are successful.

It shouldn’t matter what other people around you are saying. You should be able to focus and make it happen. This is how you separate people who are able to achieve results on almost autopilot and everybody else who struggles.

If you want to be one of those people, click here. You owe it to yourself to tap into motivation on command. You can’t let your circumstances to get the better of you.

Getting motivated is not a mere ritual

Getting motivated is not a mere ritual

I remember a friend of mine who swore by a certain ritual that he did prior to taking any test. This is kind of an ironic memory because I was in graduate school in California and last time I checked the people in that program were otherwise very logical, rational and tended to live their lives based on evidence.

Well, I ran into this guy, and let’s call him Dave, who had this ritual that he would engage in before he took a test. It doesn’t matter what kind of test it was, he would always engage in this ritual and he would have ritual socks that he would put on. Dave, of course, did not get the memo that regardless of what you’re wearing and what kind of actions you took, you still have to know your stuff.

In fact, he believed so much in the ritual that he didn’t even bother to prepare for the tests. Well, it is no surprise to learn that Dave did not do all that well in school. I believe he graduated at the bottom 3rd or bottom 5th of our class. Not exactly a good place to be, especially if you’re looking for a job.

Anyway, I bring up this sad example because a lot of people tend to live their lives based on rituals. They think that as long as they’re putting in the time at work, somehow they will get rewarded. Well, guess what, we live in a post-mobile digital economy. I know that’s a mouthful, but the point I’m trying to make is that the jobs that you will have today will be gone tomorrow.

That’s how quickly our economy is evolving. This is not just the truth in the United States or any other kind of developed economy. This applies across the board, even in places like the Philippines, India and Siberia. You have to understand that the jobs now will disappear. That’s how quickly the world is evolving.

To adopt some sort of rigid ritual with the underlying assumption that things will not change is really a dead end, to put it lightly. You’re setting yourself up for a nasty disappointment later on. all that time, effort and focus you are investing in your ritual will go up smoke. It is only a matter of time.

Do yourself a big favor. Focus instead on proper motivation. When you are properly motivated, you increase your chances of developing a state of flow. Once you achieve mental and emotional state, all bets are off because you will be able to learn what you need to learn to stay afloat. You’ll be able to adapt and reinvent yourself, so whatever surprised life has in store for you, you will be able to handle easily.

I know this sounds too good to be true, but look at the alternative. Look at a dogmatic attachment to ritual, only to end up crashing and burning later on. that’s not going to be pretty. Do yourself a big favor. Set yourself up for success. Set yourself up for victory. How do you do this? Learn how to get properly motivated so you end up doing whatever it takes for however long it takes to achieve success.

Do you take your motivation level for granted?

Do you take your motivation level for granted?

I remember when I was in college and I was hanging out with some guys who were in a fraternity and they were telling me that their main priority in college was to basically chase girls and drink a lot of beer. At that time, all that sounded like a good idea. After all, who could argue with a nice fraternity party?

I mean, we’re talking about a party that snaked around the block, long lines of people, lots of beer that seemed to flow endlessly. What’s not to love? Well, the problem is, if your motivation is based on something that can easily be taken away from you, then you have your problem on your hands. You have to understand that motivation is the raw ingredient of any kind of success.

I don’t care whether you are studying for a test so you can get some sort of accreditation. I don’t care whether you are studying for a board exam or you are looking to migrate to another country. Motivation is crucial to any kind of goal achievement. Unfortunately, it’s very easy for us to assume that we’re already motivated.

It’s very easy for us to take the snarky attitude, that, “Hey, I’m doing what I’m doing, right? That means that I am motivated.” Well, you cannot take motivation for granted. At the very least, you cannot look at what you’re already doing and conclude that the fact that you’re doing them means that you are motivated.

If you were to do that, chances are, you are setting yourself up for a big letdown. Chances are, you’re only setting yourself up for even minor challenges to throw you off track. It doesn’t take much if your level of motivation is so shallow, problematic and derivative that any little problem is enough to throw you off.

If you pair this with the fact that most Americans and most modern people, for that matter, have increasingly small attention spans, then it is no surprise that people end up spending their lives doing stuff that they think will take their lives to the next level, but they quickly realize that they’ve been spinning their wheels all this time.

That’s how powerful real motivation is. When you are truly motivated, you look at your life based on first principles. You dispense with the busy stuff that doesn’t really take you anywhere. You look at the big picture. You look at your purpose. You revisit why instead of just getting bogged down, trying to figure out what and how to do things.

Do you see how this works? Do yourself a big favor. Stop taking your motivation level for granted and you will probably achieve greater results. If you are in any way, shape or form stuck, frustrated or disappointed in any area of your life, you might want to start looking at how motivated you truly are.

Lose your sense of purpose and you lose motivation

Lose your sense of purpose and you lose motivation

Now what if I told you that figuring out what to do, how to do it and when to do it are not as important as figuring out why. That’s right. Technical considerations, and this involves learning how to do something, are very important. After all, you need to know how to do things for you to get better at them. This is crucial for success.

But as important as these considerations may be, until and unless we can wrap our minds around purpose, we’re just basically spinning our wheels. That’s right, we’re just wasting our time. Most people live life wasting precious time on the small details. They focus on one exam after another, but at the end of the day they are still living the same life.

They are spinning in place and they are chasing their tails. How come? They did not let a big sense of purpose motivate them. They don’t even have an idea what this purpose is. Believe it or not, we all have a purpose if you are willing to look for it. You were put on this earth for a reason.

Last time I checked, this has nothing to do with stuffing with your face, going to the bathroom, worrying about shelter or any of the mundane small stuff in life. A purpose is the big stuff. will the world be a better place when you’re gone? Will the world be a better place because you have lived?

Those are the questions that speak to purpose. I’m not just talking about you leaving a child or you having an impact on your family because everybody does that. I’m talking about something bigger. Unfortunately, a lot of people lose sight of this and that’s why they do not have the proper level of motivation needed to achieve the big things in life.

They are unable to achieve a state of flow because they’re not properly motivated. The worst part of all of this is that they only have themselves to blame. Do yourself a big favor. Pay close attention to your sense of purpose. Understand that you have one. Reconnect with it. Allow it to push you to where you need to go.

Keep in mind that the longer you feel you are just spinning your wheels, the more you sap your resolve. Sure, you might have a lot of passion and energy on a day to day basis. Don’t expect that level to remain solid. Eventually, as doubts and a sense of helplessness about your routine creeps in, your daily level of passion and energy starts a downward decline. You might not even notice it at first but eventually it will show up in the worst way possible-you will be able to tell through your reduced output or your degraded output quality. Don’t let this happen. Get the proper motivation pronto!

Have you ever stopped and asked what will motivate you?

Have you ever stopped and asked what will motivate you?

A lot of people are under the impression that they are already motivated. This is precisely the reason why most people struggle.

You see, in the United States and elsewhere, we have been trained that if our pizza doesn’t arrive 15 minutes after we have ordered it, then we are entitled to a full refund. I’m talking about the pizza shop may decide to give you a refund or not. I’m talking about discretion here. I’m talking about entitled to a refund. That’s where we are culturally. That’s where a lot of people are and this timeframe that we have continued to shrink thanks to the internet.

This is why a lot of people simply do not read anymore. When you check Facebook with your mobile device like a tablet or a smart phone, you’re actually just scrolling and looking for keywords and scanning. You’re not really reading. The same applies to websites and other apps. That’s how our frame of mind has become fragmented. Our time horizon has shrunk and we are very impatient by definition.

We are impatient with the things that we engage with. We are impatient with ourselves. We are impatient with reality. That is why too many of us are frustrated. In fact, addiction rates and suicide rates in Western Europe and the United States are on the upswing. How can this be? Humanity has reached the unprecedented levels of material wealth, yet there are millionaires killing themselves. Can you imagine that?

A lot of this has to do with the fact that we have lost touch with a sense of purpose. We live on a day to day basis based on the trivialities in front of us. Let me ask you, when you see yourself in a funeral home, about to be buried in the ground, do you think you would care about how hard you worked? Do you think it would be a top priority for you if you had worked an extra day at your job? Of course not.

You would think about the big things. You would think about your purpose. That is why if you want to trigger unstoppable and consistent motivation so you can achieve states of flow, you need to learn how to get motivated. Click here for a practical guide on unstoppable motivation. This guide will help you achieve states of flow.

Unless you stop and take stock of what you choose to motivate you on a day to day basis, chances are you’ll continue to run on inspiration, intuition, and gut feel. All these may sound good-in fact, a lot of people swear by them. But if you truly look at them and trace where they get their power from, they are all products of how you feel at a certain time and place. In other words, they are situational. You wouldn’t want your circumstances to dictate your level of personal effectiveness. That power, that resolve, that drive, must come from within and nowhere else. After all, you can always control what you choose to think about or what you get emotional about.

Lack of focus kills your motivation

Lack of focus kills your motivation

It’s very important to understand if you are trying to achieve anything with your life, that you have it you know. You really do. I know this sounds like a pep talk, but it isn’t. It’s just a statement of fact. All of us are capable of achieving something called “a state of flow.”

You may not label it as such, but you have achieved at least at some point in your life, a mental and emotional state where things come easily. I’m not talking about you just sitting back and thinking that you have an easy life and that you have figured everything out. No, I am not talking about that. This is not something that just happens in your head. This is actually real. How come?

Well, it actually impacts your behavior. When you achieve a state of flow, you work in such a way that things become quick, easy and effortless. Things just fall into place and it seems like regardless of what you do, when you make a move, things happen. Wouldn’t it be awesome if you were able to do this with almost everything in your life?

Well, I can tell you that habitually successful people trigger a state of flow in almost everything they do. That is why they are able to achieve what they are able to do. For the rest of humanity, people have to struggle with the proper motivations to get that state of flow. In fact, a lot of people are really clueless about this mental and emotional state.

This really is too bad because we all have it in us and the only way to trigger this state is motivation. Motivation enables you to keep doing despite the fact that there are people around you telling you that it cannot be done. Motivation is what you need to keep pushing when it seems that the only thing you are able to achieve is failure, disappointment and heartbreak.

Motivation is crucial to achieving that state of flow. Once you get there, you can trigger a state of momentum where you are able to maintain that state for an extended period time. However, you have to get there first and this means motivation.

The problem is, most people allow the small stuff of life, like deadlines, lots of duties, responsibilities and obligations that seem to pop out of nowhere, to kill their focus. If you don’t have focus, it kills your motivation because you’re basically just scatterbrained. You’re basically trying to put Band-Aids on everything trying to prevent some sort of crisis.

That is what you’re doing. You’re not looking at the big things in life. You’re not allowing yourself to be driven forward by your focus in life. You’re not doing any of that. Instead, you’re just trying to focus on the small things. You’re too obsessed about the things right in front of your nose that you lose focus.

You put in all this time, effort and energy only to have very little to show it. You’re basically just living on a day to day basis. If you’re sick and tired of this, click here to figure out how to achieve unstoppable motivation.

Why You Should Consider Creating an Online Course For Your Business

Why You Should Consider Creating an Online Course For Your Business

There are a wide variety of marketing methods at your disposal, such as blogging, video marketing, email marketing, Amazon FBA, SEO, and more. But an online course can be as profitable as any of them, possibly even more so. And they can be easy to create if you already have an eBook or educational material at hand. There are plenty of valid reasons to consider an online course for your business.

Return on Investment

Online courses can deliver a very impressive return on investment if they are done properly. Once you have the course created and uploaded to a site such as Udemy, then there is not much else to do aside from promoting the product. Ideally, the product will have been promoted before it is released. Online courses can be sold over and over and can deliver an income for years without much additional enhancement. However, it should be noted that creating a course is a little more difficult than it appears at first glance.

They Are Increasing in Popularity

More and more people are turning towards online courses to receive their education compared to other methods. Online courses are far cheaper and often contain a wealth of information that cannot be obtained anywhere else. While the online course niche is becoming saturated, there is still a lack of high-quality courses that deliver original content not available anywhere else. If you can give this to your target audience, then your online course will be a massive success. If you find yourself giving the same advice over and over again, then a course is a good way to streamline your efforts.

Build Authority and Credibility

If you do sell a course effectively, then you will have a built a reputation as an expert in the field. Even if it does not sell that well, creating your own online course is going to be a massive boost to your brand. As your business grows, you will be able to point your customers towards your course.  You can use the course as an upsell or as a downsell with associated products and services. In many ways, it can be like having two separate kinds of business. While there can be considerable work involved in creating an online course for your business, it is definitely worth it.
